Second Time Around is a Classic Rock Band based out of the northwest suburbs of Chicago, featuring 9 talented musicians each with countless years of experience to their credit. Second Time Around is inspired by the works of many Classic Rock greats and strives to perform their songs with passion and accuracy. A few of our favorite selections include “Hush” by Deep Purple, “Funk No. 49 by the James Gang and “I’ve Seen All Good People,” by Yes. Although our emphasis is on classic rock we much enjoy performing “blues” based hits such as “Sweet Home Chicago,” “Move It On Over,” and “Still Got the Blues.”
If you are a fan of Eagles’ singer, Don Henley, you will enjoy the vocal style of one of our lead vocalists, Jim Allen. Additionally, vocalists Toni Callahan and Angie Fridono have experience as session singers singing both locally and nationally, their vocal talents and blending qualities along with vocalist, Allen, make it possible for the band to perform songs that are comprised of complex harmonies. Lead guitarists, John Tow and Al Hamilton are as talented as they come, delivering authentic “Classic Rock” guitar solos. Our drum/percussion player, Dave Heim, adds intense expression of feeling with energy and excitment to his craft. Bass player, Steve Fahrner, and keyboard player, Paul Goldman bring years of experience both instrumentally and as backup vocalist. Last, but not least, our founding member and acoustic-slide guitar/harmonica player, John Fridono, affords us the opportunity to perform authentic blues, adding a unique flair to our sound.
